| South of the Amazon jungle is the elegant and monotone city of Brasilia, the worlds largest planned city. It was built with great optimism in 1000 days between 1957 and 1960, shortly after Brazil became a democracy. The first elected president promised to rise a brand new capital in the geographic middle of the country and bring the nation together. An ultra modern city was created by a team of architects led by Oscar Niemeyer and the urbanist Lucio Costa. It`s a strange and beautiful place. I was interested in the architects dream - seeing Brasilia without people... The photographs were exposed with very long shutterspeeds to erase people and traffic. Vegar Moen 2002
